Number of votes for Erin = y

Number of votes for Tim = z

x + y + z = 27 ----(1)

Given,

x = y+3

or, y=x-3 ----(2)

x=z+6

or, z=x-6 ---(3)

Substitute (3) and (2) in (1)

x + (x-3) + (x-6) = 27

3x-9=27

x=(27+9)/3= 12
